  19. Have you ever used the Internet, CompuServe, or AOL?  If so,
  20. you've probably encountered Zip files.  Are you a Windows user?
  21. If so, WinZip is THE way to handle these archived files.

  23. WinZip brings the convenience of Windows to the use of Zip files
  24. and other compression formats.  WinZip features include:

  26. Seamless Windows integration:  WinZip includes tight integration
  27. with My Computer and Windows Explorer.  Drag and drop to or from
  28. Explorer, or zip and unzip without leaving Explorer.

  31. Internet file formats:  TAR, gzip, UUencode, XXencode, BinHex,
  32. and MIME.  ARJ, LZH, and ARC files are supported via external

  40. familiar "wizard" interface to simplify the process of unzipping
  41. and installing software distributed in Zip files.  The WinZip
  42. Wizard is not targeted at experienced users, but is ideal for
  43. the rapidly growing number of PC users getting started with Zip
  44. files. When these users gain confidence or want to use more
  45. advanced zipping features, the full WinZip Classic interface is
  46. just a click away.

  48. Favorite Zip Folders:  WinZip lets you organize Zip files into
  49. one convenient list that is sorted by date, making it easier to
  50. locate all Zip files, regardless of where they came from or where
  51. they are stored.  Unlike the standard File->Open Archive dialog
  52. box, the Favorite Zip Folders dialog box treats the contents of
  53. multiple folders as though they were one folder.  A Search
  54. facility will find any Zip files lost on your hard disk.

  57. Personal Edition is now included with WinZip.  Self-extracting
  58. files are ideal for sending compressed files to others who may

  97. WinZip is extremely easy to use!  To open an archive simply
  98. double click on an archive listed in My Computer or Windows
  99. Explorer, drag and drop an archive onto WinZip, or use the
  100. standard Open dialog box.  The main WinZip window features a
  101. list with the names, sizes, and date/time stamps of all files
  102. in the open archive.  This list can be scrolled and sorted on
  103. any field.  A configurable tool bar provides fast access to
  104. commonly used actions.  Extensive context sensitive help is
  105. always available.

  107. Double clicking on a file in the main WinZip window has the same
  108. effect as double clicking in My Computer or Windows Explorer.
  109. First the file is extracted from the archive.  Then, if the file
  110. is executable, it is run.  Otherwise, the file is opened by the
  111. appropriate application (for example, WordPad for *.WRI files)
  112. based on standard Windows associations.

  114. The Windows Drag and Drop interface is fully supported.  You can
  115. drag and drop files from WinZip to other applications.  WinZip
  116. will extract the files before dropping them on the target
  117. application.  The target application will treat the files as if
  118. they had been dropped from My Computer or Windows Explorer.  You
  119. can also drop archives on WinZip to open them, or drop files on
  120. WinZip to add them to the open archive.

  124. WinZip requires Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0, or
  125. Windows 2000.  While no other programs are required for basic
  126. operations involving ZIP, TAR, GZ, Z files, UUencoded, XXencoded,
  127. BinHex, or MIME files, some optional features require external
